Chin Ups: Back Exercise

The chin ups is a strength training back exercise. It's a great exercise for developing the back, but requires quite a bit of strength.

You can use an assisted pull up machine to make it easier. Make sure you keep your belly button drawn in.

Muscles Worked

Primary Muscles: The etire Back

Secondary Muscles: Arms (Biceps)

What you need: A pull up bar or assisted pull up machine.

Preparation :

  • Stand at a pull up bar or assisted pull up bar.
  • Grip the bar with a wide overhand grip.
Movement :
  • Keep your belly button drawn in.
  • Pull yourself up bringing your chin to the level of the bar.
  • Return back down slowly and with control.
  • Repeat.
