Human Growth Hormone Supplements - No Fountains of Youth Here

Growth Hormone Supplements: We've become a society that's obsessively searching for the eternal fountain of Youth - some claim to have found it in HGH supplements. Manufacturers promise that with one pop of a pill or a spray up the nose, you'll decrease body fat, build muscle, erase wrinkles, increase stamina, improve memory, and much more.

Just what are these human growth hormone supplements that "anti-aging" doctors promote? Human Growth Hormone (HGH) is a naturally occurring hormone that stimulates our bodies' development. Produced by the pituitary gland situated deep inside the brain, it helps lengthen our bones and increase the thickness of soft tissues like the skin. Children's growth relies on proper secretion of HGH and adults need it to manage metabolism. As we age, however, our HGH levels decrease and symptoms of old age - like baldness, weight gains, and fatigue - appear.

A few decades ago, scientists developed a synthetic HGH by removing the pituitary gland from cadavers and processing it. Doctors found that synthetic HGH injections could reverse muscle wasting in those suffering from AIDS, and ensure normal growth if given to children who, for genetic reasons, lacked the natural hormone.

The trouble started in 1990 when The New England Journal of Medicine published a study of 12 middle-aged men who appeared in good health but had HGH levels less than average younger men.

Each man received growth hormone injections three times a week for six months; a control group of nine men received no treatment. The subjects experienced a decrease in adipose (fat) tissue and increases in lean body muscle. Although editors wrote an adjunct editorial stating that several men had experienced adverse side effects, the mainstream media, nevertheless ran with the idea that we had discovered the antidote to getting old.

Before anyone could say "Beware!" athletes began taking human growth hormone supplements to enhance their performances. Opportunists made wild claims that HGH synthetic tablets and nose sprays could reverse aging. Unfortunately, many people are falling for these claims and are taking large doses without medical consultation. And the side effects could be deadly.

For example, even if HGH works, you may feel young, but you won't look pretty. A common side effect is a condition called acromegaly, which starts with unusual of facial bone and connective tissue. It begins with a protruding jaw and eyebrow bones, and eventually leads to enlarged hands, feet, and excess body hair. Not only will you become unattractive, but you may also live a shorter life since this condition can be fatal.

Other side effects include:
  • Carpel Tunnel Syndrome
  • Low blood sugar with possibility of lapsing into a diabetic coma
  • Excessive water retention
  • Liver damage
  • Thyroid damage
  • Nerve damage
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Enlarged Heart

Moreover, if you take human growth hormone supplements for an extended period of time, your pituitary gland could become "lazy." If you’re providing your body with full doses of synthetic hormones, the gland will not need to release as much of its own real HGH and may shut down.

Rather than being an elixir of youth, human growth hormone supplements can actually be a fatal potion from hell. A healthy lifestyle of regular exercises and proper diet is much safer.
