Anyone involved in the world of fitness will tell you that jumping rope never goes out of style. We may wonder why such a basic and simple concept could remain unchanged for decades and still stay relevant. The reason is fairly obvious: a jump rope workout delivers results.
It can certainly boost physical endurance to a level most people might find surprising. Simply put, the myth that jumping rope is a ‘little girls’ exercise needs to be ignored. A jump rope is one of the most all-round helpful and vital workout tools that can improve your health and fitness significantly.

There is some skill involved with jumping rope. Regardless of the jump rope technique, certain things do not change. You will need to coordinate your movements; develop a sense of timing; remain light on your feet while also maintaining a sense of explosive movement; and pace yourself based on your endurance. When you can put all these components together, you will discover that you certainly can get a lot out of a rope jumping session.
Virtually all athletes workout with a jump rope. Considering the fact that performance athletes do not have time to waste in their training, their likelihood to jump rope is quite high. Jumping rope helps athletes stay in shape by burning off excess fat. Remember, obesity can create a ton of health problems far beyond the mere inhibition of athletic performance. Athletes need to exercise to burn off fat like everyone else.
Another reason athletes jump rope is for athletic performance. Jumping rope dramatically builds up endurance and cardio conditioning. It also aids in developing lean muscle mass through the entire body. Some may assume that the legs are the only muscle group that benefit. This is not accurate as the arms, core and the entire upper body have to be engaged as well. All movements start with the core, and jumping rope is no exception
There is also the potential to develop congruent, graceful movement when jumping rope. No matter what footwork or technique is used, It promotes balance and fluidity which is why so many boxers, basketball players, and tennis stars employ jumping rope as part of their daily routine. They are performance athletes and they need supplementary workouts that help them perform.
And most rope jumping workouts are relatively easy. Simply jumping rope for 2 minutes in an interval training method (10 seconds slow, 10 seconds fast, repeat) can deliver effective results. There is no reason to assume a complicated workout is necessary to yield improvements in overall conditioning or performance.
Of course, you can also jump rope anywhere and there is no heavy equipment to lug around. That means anyone can jump rope regardless of their lifestyle, location, or schedule. Consider that a huge benefit for this very effective form of exercise. But the best part about a jump rope workout is that it can be extremely fun.
I used to jump rope as a workout in highschool, but I was paranoid someone would see me and think I was a sissy. Funny thing, nobody thought Muhammad Ali was a sissy.
It’s also good to build up the fore-arms. Another reason boxers use it.
I used to workout in school days….afterwards did not get time…but wanna do it now..it keeps your body fit………
