I always thought of myself as a fit person. Even as I gained weight and lost body definition I still refused to think of myself as being out of shape or overweight.
It wasn't until I went suit shopping for the first time in years and the guy told me that I need a suit 3 sizes up from my usual! It was then that I realized I NEEDED to lose weight.
Well, I am happy to say that through persistence and determination with some exercise, new habits and new hobbies I am now 40lbs lighter and in the best shape of my adult life.
What worked for me was not following a specific diet but rather eating less of the bad things and more of the good things. I more olive oil, reduced my portions by using a kitchen scale to measure and I dramatically increased my intake of fresh fruits and vegetables. I now eat an apple a day along with a handful of healthy nuts and what probably amounts to an entire onion's worth of fresh vegetable mass. I made sure I enjoyed my diet but that it was under control.
I also changed a lot of my habits and hobbies. I picked up snowboarding and ditched video games. I watch less tv and more of nature from the seat of my bicycle.
The best thing is that I love all the changes I made. I love the results. I love my life now more than I ever did before!
